The successful candidate will partner with relevant business areas, providing high-level specialist advice, identifying opportunities for improvement, designing/delivering new approaches and managing associated external specialists who deliver professional services. You will work closely with the Head of Legal Services, to promote high standards of conduct and provide greater transparency and protections on Constitutional matters.

Description
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable relevant legal experience at a comparable level within a similar organisation or public body.
The primary role will focus on advising on and supporting good governance processes for the whole organisation and overseeing and dealing with implications of legislative change for the organisation
Knowledge of information law and data protection legislation, experience of negotiation in disputes with third parties, advising corporate meetings and of supporting projects that impact on the general public and stakeholders will also be required. You will be expected to act as a subject matter expert, providing specialist legal advice to internal/external stakeholders and partners.
Strong analytical skills are also an essential requirement. You will initiate and lead the design and implementation of new/enhanced policies, systems and approaches.
You will have experience of all levels of legal, governance, commercial and contractual management, supplier management, procurement knowledge but the same time be detail driven and use insights to deliver value added solutions.

You will be an exceptional communicator and an innovator from design to delivery, with a collaborative approach to work with and across multi-disciplinary teams such as Northern Powerhouse Rail, Strategic Rail, Finance, Procurement, Project Teams, Directors and local transport authorities, drawing on your know-how to give guidance in a solution focused way.
