Your new company
A non-ministerial department responsible for inspecting and regulating primary level education and childcare, adoption and fostering agencies. They currently have a need for an Enforcement and Appeals Lawyer for a 12 month maternity cover contract.
Your new role
As the Enforcement and Appeals Lawyer, you will provide legal support and conduct advocacy on behalf of the organisation in relation to appeals against the suspension or cancellation of registration. Furthermore, you will carry out other litigation work including prosecutions, emergency applications and a range of other court and tribunal proceedings. You will be responsible for instructing external legal Counsel as required and manage internal and external stakeholders so that the enforcement action is conducted efficiently and effectively. You will provide strategic and high level advice and support to senior management on how best to manage legal challenges as well as raising awareness of litigation risks within the organisation, taking steps to ensure that
appropriate actions are taken to mitigate those risks.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role, you will be a qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of three years post qualification experience. You will have a recognised level of expertise in the conduct and management of enforcement appeals and other litigation, to enable effective decision-making. You will have experience of identifying litigation risks and underlying causes and identifying solutions that take account of wider policy and operational contexts. You will have previous experience of enforcement within the public sector as well as advising on public law issues.
