Commercial Property Lawyer/ Commercial Real Estate Lawyer - based in Guernsey.
This is a rare opportunity for a junior commercial property lawyer to join one of the leading offshore law firms in the Channel Islands. Based in Guernsey, you will be part of a small but highly acclaimed team that is frequently involved in the largest and most interesting real estate work on the island. You will enjoy a diverse practice advising clients on areas such as commercial, leisure and residential development, real estate finance and all aspects of leasing, as well as working with colleagues in the corporate team on the property aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Your client base will span developers and financiers, high-net-worth private investors, banks and financial institutions, and both buyers and sellers.
The role is likely to suit someone in the NQ to three years’ experience range. You will have strong commercial property experience (or at least one relevant training seat if an NQ) and you will be comfortable in a client-facing capacity and who revels in the opportunity to take on responsibility. Opportunities for progression are excellent in what is a high-performing, growing team.
The Channel Islands
For a city-based lawyer who thrives on big-ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world’s premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors, housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue-chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work-life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it.
Process
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically three or four months later, depending on notice period. Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with licenses (where applicable) and relocation, including temporary accommodation on arrival.
