Exciting opportunity for a Lawyer to join a well-regarded University in London as an In-House Counsel on a locum basis.

This will be a remote working role for at least 4 months and may lead to a permanent role within the team.

My client is looking for a versatile and independent Lawyer who possesses a good manner with colleagues and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in the Higher Education sector or have highly transferable skills. We are open to aaplications from non-qualified legal professional as long as you have extensive relevant legal experience.

The successful In-House Lawyer will handle an extremely varied caseload, with not two days being the same. Therefore, you must be adaptable and willing to pick up others areas of work according to demand.

Duties will include:

  • Contracts and commercial work including academic partnership contracts;
  • Advising on student contracts, consumer law and charity law issues;
  • Information law matters including Data Protection and Freedom of Information law;
  • Advising on a range regulatory issues that apply to Higher Education Institutions;
  • Advising on a range of legal issues arising from the activities of the student case work which may include advising on complaints, investigations, and providing legal support in responding to threatened or actual legal claims against the University.

While all of the above may feature in the role, it is most crucial that you have extensive experience of commercial and contract law.

You will be working closely with the Senior In-House Counsel and liaising with various internal and external stakeholders.
