Prinicipal Lawyer and Monitoring Officer

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

3-5 days per week

South East England

Prinicipal Lawyer and Monitoring Officer is required to join a local authority in the South East of England for a fixed 12 month contract and the view to further extend / permanent opportunity thereafter.

Our client is looking for an experienced local government lawyer that has previous experience of acting as a Monitoring officer or Deputy Monitoring Officer and is looking for either 3 days or a 5 day working week as the client can be flexible with this.

The post would require you to act as the Monitoring officer for a local authority 3 days a week and then support other local authorities for 2 days a week with advice related work should you be looking for the full time element of the role.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with a range of governance work including member conduct investigations, constitutional matters, information governance and general governance support. The role will be undertaken remotely and depending on whether meetings need to be conducted remotely or in person there may be the need for evening committees.
