Immediately available role for a Commercial Lawyer to join this leading Bank in Edinburgh on a fixed term 6–8-month contract.
Role Profile:
Identify and manage legal risk in delivering targeted, commercially focused legal advice on corporate and commercial legal matters across the Bank including support and advice on projects, negotiating third party supplier contracts and material outsourcing arrangements, debt and other asset sales, competition law and general commercial queries.
Provide insightful and commercial legal advice to all business areas in relation to:
New contractual arrangements, including negotiation, reviewing and drafting contracts; Existing contractual arrangements, including managing contractual relationships and disputes;- Compliance with the law and new legal developments;
- Pro-actively identify legal risks and where identified, advise on appropriate mitigation strategies and ensure these risks are effectively managed and escalated;
- Support good governance, facilitate appropriate discussion and escalation of issues
- Assist business colleagues to comply with the Legal Policies, including horizon scanning for relevant changes in the corporate and commercial landscape and provision of relevant training;
Provide legal advice on s75 claims, customer complaints and FOS related matters; - Instruct and manage external legal counsel.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor with commercial legal experience either in-house or in private practice. Track record of delivering pragmatic risk-based legal advice.
- Experience of strong relationship management (both internal and external stakeholders).
- Sound legal, analytical, drafting and writing skills.
- High level of integrated thinking to solve problems.
- Proactive and highly organised.
