Description

Legal Executive Responsibilities

Dealing with litigation against the business.

Managing a team of four Claims Executives with responsibility for quarterly and annual performance reviews, training and development, recruitment and engagement.

To be accountable for the budget lines - totalling approximately £4 million.

Using management information tools to monitor performance of the Claims Department and work with the Finance Department to ensure optimum accuracy in measuring the company's liability.

Challenge existing practice to give better results for the company and the consumer - build loyalty through resolution with the best possible emphasis on cost-effectiveness.

To ensure all cases are managed in-house to the fullest extent feasible so as to provide cost savings and efficient outcomes whilst developing efficient ways of working with external counsel where necessary. Responsible for running of own mixed caseload of claims.

Using management information tools to monitor performance of the Claims Department and work with the Finance Department to ensure optimum accuracy in measuring the company's liability.

Working with the Finance Department to assist with debt collection matters in-house.

To act as an in-house centre of legal expertise in relation to personal injury and guest contractual litigation.

Build relationships within group business so as to enhance proactive claims/accident prevention

Profile

The successful Legal Executive will have:

  • A broad base of commercial litigation experience including personal injury and contract claims.

  • Leadership experience

  • Experience in the provision of commercially focused legal advice including knowing when to settle and when to proceed to court.

  • Good knowledge and experience of small claims, fast track and multi track court processes and procedures.

  • Experience of dealing with group actions and higher court claims.

  • Managing external counsel to whom cases might be outsourced to ensure the appropriate fee earner is dealing with the matter and that appropriate decisions are being taken at the correct time so as to ensure cost management and successful resolution of matters.

  • Experience of bringing of litigation such as consumer and commercial debt proceedings.

  • Developing policies/procedures and training on regulatory compliance and legal requirements

Desirable

  • Experience working in a private practice legal environment

  • Experience of advising on health and safety issues.

  • Experience of advising on disability law.
