Junior Construction Counsel - Engineering Sector Trade Body

Provision of legal advice to the organisation and its members in relation to Construction and Engineering contracts and commercial matters facing the Engineering Sector.

Our Client is an industry leading trade body in the Engineering Sector

Description

Responsibilities with this role include the provision of:

• legal and commercial, and wider business support advice and guidance service to the Organisation's Membership on matters relating to construction and engineering contracts and the commercial issues which interact with them; and
• in-house legal support service to the Organisation's corporate group and working with those internal stakeholders to arrive at commercially advantageous outcomes for the Organisation.

You will also influence and represent the Organisation on business-related industry issues - this could include working with and lobbying Government Departments in relation to policies affecting the construction and engineering industries. You will support the development and maintenance of the Organisation's key stakeholder relationships for business issues affecting Members within the stakeholder and media landscape.

Profile

The successful candidate is likely to be a UK Qualified or Common Law qualified lawyer with:

• Between 1-3 years post-qualification experience working on construction or engineering contracts
• Experience of advising on standard and non-standard construction contracts
• Sound knowledge of the UK construction industry
• Familiarity with the legislative framework which affects construction contracts

It is desirable that the candidate has either experience in commercial contracts and/or governance related activities or, at the very least a willingness to take on this type of work (which is often the case with in house positions).
