A global pharmaceutical company is looking to appoint a senior lawyer to head up their commercial legal team.
They have a presence across the UK, EU and APAC regions and are continuing to develop their product range across the globe. Having made several large acquisitions and gained significant financial investment in recent years, they are now looking to expand their legal function.
Reporting to the General Counsel, this will be a broad role involving management of junior team members.
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Providing strategic leadership to the commercial legal team;
- Supporting the business in achieving its key strategic objectives;
- Liaising with senior stakeholders from various departments across the business to provide legal advice on a wide range of issues;
- Building, guiding and developing a successful team to draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal documentation, with a focus on commercial contracts and service agreements;
- Implementing and improving legal processes and templates to ensure a smooth and efficient legal function within the business
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- UK qualified solicitor;
- Minimum 7 PQE, with a preference for candidates who have trained at a major City law firm;
- Experience within pharmaceutical or life sciences is essential;
- Strong academic credentials;
- A driven and forward-thinking individual that can work well in a team and is confident to provide advice to key stakeholders in the business and add strategic value to the business;
- Proven leadership ability;
- Extensive commercial contracts experience, advising on a diverse range of domestic and international commercial legal matters;
- Proactive and thrive on taking responsibility of a diverse range of matters;
- Excellent commercial and business awareness.
