Head of Legal (FS) - hybrid working

An outstanding Head of Legal role has arisen for an experienced financial services lawyer seeking a strategic role with significant responsibility.

Based in West Yorkshire, the organisation is forward thinking and fast paced and is able to accommodate the appropriate individual on a hybrid working basis. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will manage legal risk and collaborate with the most senior business leads and key stakeholders to oversee and ensure legal compliance across the business. You will direct and oversee the strategic direction for Legal to align with and contribute to the wider business strategy and implement the appropriate risk management framework to assess, mitigate and report on risk.

Day to day matters will necessitate knowledge of FCA regulation, anti-money laundering, data protection & customer confidentiality, oversight on any litigation. The role needs an individual able to think creatively to find solutions to support the success of the business, and alongside this you will:

• ensure the organisation is supported in day to day business activities
• work closely with Compliance
• oversee the appropriate legal training within the business
• instruct, manage and interact with third parties such as external counsel and regulators
• be responsible for the Legal budget

If you have a background and experience in FS law and would relish a senior sole counsel role working closely with the business and supporting senior stakeholders, the organisation would be keen to hear from you.

You must be a UK qualified solicitor with extensive experience working in the FS industry, be able to demonstrate a strong track record in FS matters and have a background of relevant experience gained either in-house or at a national or international law firm. Given the seniority of the role, you must possess sound judgement, the ability to analyse complex situations and be a confident communicator.
