Family Lawyer – 4+ years PQE – Peterborough - £competitive

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Family team which will be based at the Peterborough office but also remotely covering a wider area between all our offices.

Accountabilities:

  • Deliver on a variety of Family based cases, as an integral part of the Family team
  • Deliver on individual targets without direct supervision
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and build appropriate relationships with clients
  • Adhere to agreed quality procedures and management systems
  • Undertake and deliver work in a commercially effective manner
  • Continually develop technical and non-technical skills to meet client and firm requirements and demonstrate continuous improvement in all areas of work
  • Some travel required for business development, meetings and training purposes
  • Actively participate in the business development strategy of a large and expanding team

Qualifications, skills, knowledge and personal attributes:

  • Relevant professional qualification or relevant industry experience

Skills / Experience:

  • Strong legal skills in the wide spectrum of Family Law discipline
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advocacy skills and confidence at Court
  • Working knowledge of case management systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Competent document production skills for self-generated documentation
  • Ability to adopt a non-confrontational approach to negotiation

  • Children Act Proceedings
  • Divorce
  • Financial Remedy Proceedings
  • Extending focus on International work
  • Pre-nuptial Agreements
  • Cohabitation – Cohabitation Agreements
  • TOLATA
  • Schedule 1 Children Act

Personal attributes:

  • Strong team player with a motivated hands-on approach.
  • Confident organisational skills to co-work on cases with other team members
  • Use initiative, plan and organise own time and workload, to meet deadlines and prioritise work
  • A desire to uphold and develop the principles of Resolution and ‘Dispute Resolution’ methods, including Mediation and Collaborative Law
  • A measured and rational approach to problem solving
  • Deal confidently and diplomatically with clients and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrate integrity and congruence when dealing with people
  • Personal responsibility for time capture, provision of costs information and fee recovery
