Kennedys is looking for an Associate, ideally 3-5 PQE relevant experience, to work on product liability, product safety, product compliance and life sciences matters on high-profile cases for international corporate and insurer clients.

The Associate will enjoy a broad and varied workload with a high level of client contact. This is an excellent and exciting opportunity to join our highly regarded, dynamic and friendly team.

Team

The role sits within the Kennedys' market-leading Product Liability, Recall and Mass Tort team in London, a 40+ fee earner (6 partner) practice.

The team assists corporate and insurer clients across the full product lifecycle:

  • Product launch
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Corporate social responsibility
  • Regulator engagement and enforcement
  • Corrective actions, including recalls
  • Inquiries
  • Product liability litigation ranging from individual claims to complex disputes and monitoring/supervision of foreign claims, mass torts and group actions
  • Criminal investigations.

It has a broad client base across a number of sectors including: automotive, cannabis, chemicals, cosmetics, consumer goods, consumer electronics/technology, food/drink and life sciences (pharmaceuticals and medical devices).

The team is routinely recognised as market-leaders in its field, in both general product safety and liability matters, and for life sciences work in particular. The team's partners are also routinely ranked as leading individuals in their respective areas.

Required experience

  • 3-5 years' relevant experience*
  • Experience in product regulatory and/or product liability matters
  • Experience across a broad range of sectors, including: life sciences, consumer goods, electronics/technology, cosmetics, chemicals, food/drink is ideal but not essential
  • Experience with legal policy and the legislative process
  • Technical background (in science or engineering) is ideal but not essential
  • Language skills are useful, but not essential
  • An enthusiastic, hard-working and proactive team-player
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage own time, excellent organisation skills
  • Strong technical legal and research skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Has a strong interest in innovations in the life sciences industry.
