Our client, a highly successful international law firm, is looking for a Risk & Compliance Assistant to join their London office. Reporting into the Head of Risk & Compliance, the Risk & Compliance Assistant will work to achieve compliance with the firm's regulatory obligations, primarily in terms of the Anti-Money Laundering Regulations. Key responsibilities will include: Understand and identify the substantive risk posed by different types of clients and transactions and contribute to risk assessmentsConduct background screening of clients to identify adverse media and risk factorsIdentify and verify client identity by collecting relevant personal and corporate documents and use these documents to establish beneficial ownershipDevelop and then apply an understanding of different types of corporate structures and vehiclesDevelop relevant management informationConduct compliance monitoring and periodic reviews of historic files A variety of experience levels will be considered for this role. Those with a year or less of compliance experience must be a graduate from a well-regarded university, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and demonstrated ability to quickly gain competence with different systems. Those with at least 2-3 years previous compliance or comparable professional services experience, must have substantial familiarity with relevant AML and other compliance related regulations and requirements, an understanding of the substantive concepts behind compliance and how those inform policies and procedures, and experience with both substantive risk assessments as well as CDD processes. Prior law firm experience of financial service experienced strongly preferred. Regardless of experience level, candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, and be confident in deal with staff and clients. Good analytical skills are a must, and you must be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines and use your own initiative.
