UK Legal Counsel (Sole) - Renewable Energy Business (Solar) - London / remote working.
Client Details
Our Client is one of the world's largest solar panel manufacturers and installers.
Description
Senior Legal Counsel will take responsibility for projects from acquired sites all the way through to project financial close and handover to the construction/delivery team.
Managing projects through all development processes and supporting the UK development team with battery storage/renewable generation development with focus on the UK market, including:
- Assisting with legal aspects of RFP processes for tender or auction opportunities
- Assisting to understand energy regulatory frameworks and the commercial impact of legislative changes
- Liaising with UK and EU Projects team through to project implementation phase including EPC, PPA and financing
- Due diligence of development opportunities and analysis of permitting and planning requirements
- Review and management of property related agreements and grid access arrangements
- Supporting negotiation of co-development and acquisition agreements and ancillary documents
- Assisting with financing arrangements (insofar as it relates to project requirements e. lease direct agreements, Lender DD support)
- Liaising with all internal business teams including business development, finance, technical, delivery, procurement, asset management
- Ensuring compliance with internal compliance framework and corporate approvals policies
- Opportunities Will Also Arise to supervise the legal team's paralegals, trainees and junior lawyers where appropriate to become involved in other areas of law where business needs arise
Profile
The successful candidate is like to
be a UK or Common Law Qualified Solicitor
have at least ten years PQE
They will have:
- recent experience of working with renewable generation or battery storage.
- Experience in a senior role in renewable energy and infrastructure sector
- Experience instructing and managing external/local counsel
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts; and
- Familiarity with project financed power/infrastructure assets.
