Interim General Counsel

Our client, a global venture capital fund which invests in founders of exciting start-up technology firms are looking to hire a General Counsel on an interim basis (12-month FTC). The successful candidate will implement and drive all legal processes across the business as well as leading the in-house team of 5 lawyers.

The role:

• To manage and lead the legal department within the firm, as well as driving processes spanning the entirety of legal operations. Including, but not limited to, compliance with government and FCA regulations, fund structuring and formation, general corporate governance and company secretarial matters, corporate transactions, operational issues, and expansion into new markets.
• To manage negotiations with prospective portfolio companies and to provide legal oversight for all the fund’s investments.
• To lead the legal team, located in Europe and the APAC region, as well as working closely with the board and C-Suite figures.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Will have strong and clear communications, able to successfully lead a team of lawyers and paralegals as well as advise the board on a myriad of legal and operational issues.
• Must have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to solve a range of problems within a fast-paced work environment.
• Must have strong experience within private funds and venture capital, as well as having an acute awareness of legal issues faced by funds or this nature, and the startup tech firms that the firm works with.
• Must have strong negotiation skills as well as a good amount of experience working on transactions.
• Ideally has experience in-house within a fund, or within a financial services company.
• Will have at least 7 years’ post-qualification experience.
