Locum Housing Litigation Legal Assistant

3 months + with the opportunity of a permanent contract

£18 - 23 umbrella per hour

My client in the Black Country is looking for an experienced housing officer to join their in house legal services team. You will join a very stable team that offers support and a wealth of knowledge. You will join an existing team of 3 solicitors and 2 legal assistants. Your role will see you working closely with legal professionals, alongside housing managers, ASB Team and income staff. You must be able to communicate effectively and provide concise advice in a timely and friendly manner.

The ideal candidate may have worked in a housing law legal assistant capacity, or have experience working as a housing officer in a previous role. Knowledge of housing or litigation law is essential for this role. The role is full time, although candidates wishing to work 4 days would be encouraged to apply.

Daily duties will include:

  • Taking statements from Lay people and officers.
  • Experience of taking witness statements.
  • Proven ability to draft statements within a housing or litgation setting.
  • Advising housing staff on the legal matters associated with cases.
  • Assessing all relevant information provided before a file is open.
  • Ensuring all relevant information is provided by the housing team to be able to progress a case.
  • Drafting notices and court documents.

Candidates must be able to get to the Midlands offices to collect the IT equipment, and the client is currently working 1 day per week in the offices.
