Group M&A & Strategic Transactions Lawyer Banking

Our client a leading UK Banking Group is currently looking for an legal counsel at AVP level to join the M&A and Strategic Transactions team which is the bank's proprietary M&A & Corporate team.

• Advising the Group and its constituent business units globally in relation to mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, joint ventures, intra-group re-organisations and general corporate law matters.

• The role has arisen in response to:

o an increase in volume of investment in fintech, digital growth and sustainable impact/ESG opportunities, and also equity investments arising as a result of debt-for-equity arrangements;

o increased demand for M&A support across multiple business units, including the continuing requirement to support legacy investments through their lifecycles and ultimately to disposal or wind-down;

o a move to take more elements of M&A transactions in-house, reflecting that in-house lawyers in many respects are more efficient than external counsel in execution where extensive collaboration with the underlying businesses is required; and

o the fact that increasing regulatory demands have led to the need for skilled corporate law practitioners to help structure our corporate entities in the most effective way.

This role is at AVP level and would suit an NQ lawyer or a lawyer with up to 3 years PQE experience within the Corporate or M&A areas
