Opportunity for a Restructuring/ Insolvency lawyer to join a the market-leading Restructuring and Business Advisory team with a leading UK law firm. This role can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow.
Role Profile:
The Restructuring team advise companies and all classes of stakeholders on the full spectrum of issues that arise in corporate restructuring and insolvency. Responsibilities will include:
- Advising companies and boards on issues relating to financial stress and distress, turnaround and restructuring options, directors’ duties and insolvency.
- Advising lenders in relation to their relationships with borrowers facing financial difficulty.
- Advising suppliers, customers, landlords and other stakeholders of the implications of counter-party distress/insolvency.
- Working with insolvency practitioners to negotiate and implement sales of business and assets in time pressured situations.
- Acting for purchasers acquiring businesses through accelerated M&A processes.
The team works closely with colleagues from across the firm, especially from real estate, banking and finance, corporate and commercial dispute resolution.
Candidate Requirements:
The firm are interested in speaking to candidates from NQ- 2 PQE- ideally you will have direct Restructuring and Business Advisory experience in a qualified role, but consideration will be given to those who are newly qualified or candidates with less direct experience in such work but a clear aptitude and appetite to apply their skills to this challenging and dynamic area of work.
Additionally, the firm are also looking to hire an Associate with circa 3-5 years PQE (qualified in Scotland and/or England &Wales) with demonstrable skills obtained working on restructuring and insolvency mandates in a practice recognised for such work and who will have worked with and be known to a number of restructuring accountants in Scotland who operate in this field.
For each role, the successful candidate will have:
- Experience in corporate restructuring and insolvency, including a good working knowledge of insolvency processes, experience of acting in business sale transactions, and a strong understanding of finance and security documentation.
- Great communication skills.
- Strong analytical and drafting skills.
- A desire to find innovative and commercial solutions for clients..
