TRAINEE LEGAL EXECUTIVE / PARALEGAL

(INVESTIGATION AND ENFORCEMENT OFFICER) – TWO VACANCIES

Salary: Up to £30,000 depending on experience

Flexible working options including some remote working (with minimum 40% office-based in Bedfordshire)

This interesting and varied role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced investigation officer, paralegal, Graduate Legal Executive or recent LPC/ BPC graduate, looking to progress their career and qualify as an authorised person under the Legal Services Act 2007.

CILEx Regulation is the independent regulatory body of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX). We regulate individual legal professionals and law firms.

You will be a key member of a small team who are responsible for ensuring the regulated community comply with the CILEX Code of Conduct and taking enforcement or disciplinary action where necessary. Your day-to-day role will involve managing, investigating and progressing your own caseload of professional misconduct and self-declared conduct (prior-conduct) cases.

You will use your technical skills and experience in analysing substantial amounts of complex information; identifying and investigating relevant lines of enquiry; obtaining witness statements and other evidence; making delegated decisions; undertaking legal research; preparing reports for our Professional Conduct Panel and hearing bundles for our Disciplinary Tribunal or Appeals Panel. You may be called as a witness or be asked to represent or advocate on behalf of CILEx Regulation in disciplinary hearings. Advocacy training will be provided where required.

We are seeking a hardworking, adaptable, resilient and empathetic team player with a real eye for detail who is qualified to degree level, ideally with a legal qualification OR comparable experience of legal practice or undertaking recognised legal work. In turn, you will be provided with on-the job training and support with good learning and development opportunities.
