Rapidly expanding retail business are looking for an Interim Head of Legal (sole counsel) to join them for up to 8 months to cover a period of maternity leave. The offices are in Central London and this role will involve a hybrid mix of office-based and remote working. As well as a full-time engagement, candidates looking for a 3 or 4 day/week option can also be considered.

The Interim Head of Legal position will be a varied and multi-faceted sole counsel role managing all the legal affairs of the company, supporting with company secretarial tasks and managing the HR function. As well as all the expected day to day legal tasks you will also be managing or involved in key, high-level internal projects. You will need to hit the ground running and build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external counsel and there will be plenty of day to day access to all levels of the company, including the board and senior executive.

You will draft and negotiate commercial contracts including IT, digital partnerships, franchise, wholesale and distribution agreements, as well as providing data privacy advice and support. There will also be an emphasis on managing IP strategy and disputes.

The position requires a qualified lawyer with at least 8 years' PQE although applications from all levels will be considered on merit. You must have a strong track record of consistently delivering on commercial, privacy and IP matters. Previous experience in the retail sector would be advantageous and a background of working in a PLC environment (whether retail or otherwise) would be of huge benefit.

Please note the salary range quoted is on the basis of a full 5 day working week. For those individuals wishing to exercise the option of working 3 or 4 days/week, that salary would be pro-rated down accordingly.
