Advertising Clearance Paralegal

Our client is seeking an Advertising Clearance Paralegal to support the Business Affairs team in providing clearance and intellectual property advice related to fast moving projects across the globe.   

THE ROLE: 

Clearance:

• Assist with day-to-day advertising clearance and content queries for large global clients.
• Manage a global advertising content clearance process -  reviewing of advertising content and copy in all mediums (TV, digital and print) for IP issues, regulatory compliance, influencer issues, claims substantiation, competitions and sweepstakes, promotional offers, and internal and client policy compliance.
• Preliminary and global trademark searches for proposed branding, taglines, signage, design, etc. 
• Advise agency teams on risk assessments in scripts, rough cuts and final creative.

Contracts:

• Vet vendors for compliance with contracting guidelines and review client contracts such as MSAs. 
• Assist legal counsel on various contracting issues such as talent agreements, production contracts, updating releases, legal templates, vendor insurance coverage, and various licensing agreements.

SKILLSET: 

• Good understanding of intellectual property laws (copyright, trademark, patent, etc), UK ASA and CAP codes, familiarity with required disclosures for influencer marketing campaigns and an understanding of global advertising standards.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with colleagues in global markets and legal teams.
• Appetite to learn about advertising and intellectual property laws worldwide.
• Experience in legal research and ability to summarise complex legal text.
