Property & Casualty Claims Handler Job - Bristol/remote
Your new firm
Our client is a leading international law firm. They provide a range of professional legal services to leading clients predominantly in the insurance sector. Whilst this is an international law firm, they are friendly and approachable and are known for their modern approach and outlook to legal services. They are currently undergoing an expansion in the Bristol office due to work levels and are looking for a Property & Casualty Claims Handler to join their team. The team is part of the firm's Insurance Group and has a well-established client base, acting for the vast majority of household and commercial property Insurers in the market. They also act for some large insureds and cover holders.
The team are currently working remotely but as this is a Bristol based role, some travel will be required post-COVID therefore it is anticipated that you will live within commuting distance.
Your new role
You will be joining the firm as a Claims Handler where you will manage your own caseload, working to key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs). The team handles a wide variety of claims arising out of property damage, including (amongst other things) fire, water, subsidence, construction and impact damage. The role largely involves running a case load of subrogated recovery matters on behalf of a range of insurers. You will have the opportunity to run a property recovery claim from first instruction, through the pre-action stage and into proceedings when necessary. The work will be varied, interesting and challenging and where you show you can run the cases successfully, you will be given autonomy to stamp your own mark on the files; there will be the opportunity to work on matters varying in value from £10,000 all the way up to millions of pounds. You will have the opportunity to get involved with business development and client initiatives, where appropriate.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have worked in a similar role previously and will have property and/or casualty defendant claims handler/paralegal experience. You will understand insurance law and have first rate communication skills, commercial awareness and initiative to work alone as well as be a team player. A familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules is necessary.
What you'll get in return
Joining a leading international law practice, you will receive a highly competitive starting salary plus a range of benefits including an excellent holiday allowance, pension, income protection and a range of lifestyle benefits.
