A Non Construction Lawyer is sought by a leading Essex Law firm that has grown substantially over recent years. Several high profile hires, fantastic modern offices and a culture and ethos second to none, has seen this firm now recognised as one of this region’s leading names.

Described as very forward thinking, with a clear strategy, this impressive law firm wish to grow substantially in the next twelve months.

The Construction team is led by one of the region’s leading lawyers and provides a broad spectrum of legal advice to clients including drafting contracts, project support, dispute avoidance, adjudication, litigation and more.

The ideal candidate would have at least 1 year PQE, but any level of appointment with be considered, other than newly qualified and asked to advise on, drafting and negotiating construction documentation including contracts, sub-contracts, collateral warranties, professional appointments and other ancillary documents. This includes advising on many different standard forms such as JCT and NEC, together with bespoke documentation.

Clients include developers, consultants, main contractors, and specialist subcontractors. Advising on projects throughout England and Wales as well as internationally. The turnover of companies they act for mainly range between £5 million and £25 million and a high proportion of their work is commercial buildings and blocks of apartments. Negotiating appropriate contract documents with funders of their clients. They advise Subcontractors on the proposed amendments to standard form contracts and the risks that are being taken on and on professional appointments and negotiate terms taking into account insurance requirements.

Experience of contentious construction matters would be useful but not essential. A balance of both types of work could be provided but the majority of work would be non-contentious.
