High-value cross-border commercial litigation/dispute resolution – large offshore firm – Jersey

The Jersey legal market is buoyant across all key practice areas but none more so than commercial litigation where the top firms are experiencing high volumes of work. As one of the market leaders, our client advises on some of the largest and highest profile disputes in the jurisdiction, with matters spanning the full range of mainstream commercial litigation, contentious insolvency and specialist banking and financial services disputes. It is complex and interesting work with plenty of client contact and the real scope to get the sort of hands-on responsibility that can be scarce in a larger onshore team. Joining at a mid-senior associate level you will be encouraged to take a leadership role in matters and as these skills develop, your opportunities for progression will be excellent. All lawyers are expected to play an active part in client management and business development efforts.

You are likely to have around 3 to 6 years’ relevant experience of high-value commercial litigation from a good onshore law firm, or alternatively another leading offshore practice. You will be a confident communicator who enjoys the client facing side of a lawyer’s role. The position comes with a competitive low-tax salary, a good bonus scheme and full benefits.

The Channel Islands

For a city-based lawyer who thrives on big ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world’s premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors, housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue-chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work-life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it.

Process

Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates negotiable. Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with licenses (where applicable) and relocation, including temporary accommodation on arrival.
