Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this Data Protection and Privacy Advisor role offers you the flexibility to work from your home and our offices. Your base location will be Lancaster House, Huntingdon (Head Office).

Looking after and protecting the data of our customers and employees is at the heart of our purpose here at Anglian Water. As Data Protection and Privacy Advisor you will be responsible for helping Anglian Water comply with data protection legislation and protect the information of over 6 million customers and 5000 employees. You will be a part of our busy Data Protection Team positioned within the Legal Department, supporting the whole organisation.
On a daily basis you will be representing the team and Legal Department by managing data breaches, supporting the teams handling data subject rights requests, responding to data protection complaints, supporting business colleagues in the creation of data protection impact assessments and assisting with the development and delivery of data protection and privacy training and awareness across Anglian Water.
As Data Protection and Privacy Advisor, you will help our Legal Compliance Officer and our Data Protection Officer to ensure data protection compliance across the organisation, champion data protection and privacy and help drive policy, procedural and process improvements.
What does it take to be a Data Protection and Privacy Advisor?
- Hold, or currently be studying towards or be willing to complete a data protection practitioner qualification.
- Recent experience of providing data protection and privacy advice and support to a reasonable sized organisation.
- Experience of handling data breaches, managing data protection impact assessments, third party disclosure requests and data subject access requests.
- A proven ability to effectively communicate data protection information to the wider organisation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a progressive approach to change and development.
- Experience or an enthusiasm to develop and deliver data protection training.
- Experience of establishing successful, collaborative working relationships across business functions and providing pragmatic business solutions
- The ability to gather and assess information quickly, and to make decisions in dynamic situations
