Hi we are recruiting a Senior Commercial Legal Counsel for one of our clients who is a global leader in transportation solutions. The client plays a pivotal role in the distribution of world trade, which includes transport and logistics.

Description

Some of the responsibilities for the role are outlined below. Our client appreciates that solicitors might not have undertaken all of the areas of work. However applicants needs to have the ability and desire to pick up new areas of legal work and to instruct external solicitors if needed.

· Being a key member of project teams working on growth opportunities in the logistics space (such as new warehousing projects).

· Responsible for safeguarding the clients values, interests and reputation and "getting the best possible deal" across the line.

· Advising and supporting on drafting of commercial contracts and other legal documents.

· Responsible for handling and overseeing litigation in the UK&I Area.

· Advising on various engagements with authorities.

· Responsible for engaging and managing external legal counsel, including legal budget.

· Proactively identifying and addressing legal issues in a pragmatic and risk-based fashion.

· Provide training to (non-legal) colleagues on relevant topics such as commercial contracting.

· Working effectively with other departments and functions such as Finance, Tax, Compliance, etc.

· Review, Management of and coaching on legal risks with current contracts

Profile

Solicitors who come from a private practice or in house background should apply for this role. Some of the attributes for a successful candidate will include some of the areas listed below.

English law qualified essential.

Proactive and senior business partner for Area management and commercial functions. Flagging risks with a commercial and pragmatic approach towards problem solving.

Significant legal experience in private practice and/or as in-house counsel, experience in logistics would be beneficial but not essential.

Project management and M&A experience will be considered as a strong advantage.

Experience with general corporate, regulatory and commercial legal issues.

Experience with managing property/lease/buy/sell contracts would be preferable

Experience with drafting and negotiating contracts; drive to understand commercial context.

Commercial mind-set, drive to deliver high quality results, high level of integrity. Effective communicator (able to explain complex legal issues to non-legal people in a simple way), strong personality, empathy, personal tact.

Well organised, punctual.

Other languages are not required but could serve as an advantage.
