The Client is a reputable International Commercial Law Firm focusing on providing an award-winning legal service. Ranked top 100 in the industry, the firm has gained the position of becoming a market-leader in the areas of banking, insurance and the public sector.

They are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant in a fixed-term contract (12 months)t who previously had exposure in the legal field. A suitable candidate will have demonstrable finance experience with profound SRA regulatory knowledge. The Role will have you work closely with the billing team while reporting to the Deputy Head of Finance Operations and Team Leaders. You will be processing transactions, data entering and be responsible for project support as well. As a successful Accounts Assistant you can expect an engaging and rewarding day that will fly by while having a sense of achievement being a team player in your department.

A typical workday will have you doing:

  • Billing arrangement and charge rate setup, maintenance and technical office and client reports for GBP and currency bills.
  • Payor setup Output VAT and rate maintenance and general accounts maintenance duties.
  • Checking of bills and posting
  • Processing of e-bills
  • Transaction processing of Client Matter or Accounts Payable including office and client cheque requests/banking/Office/Client Direct Credit/Counsel and Expert and Purchase Ledger postings/Same Day and International payment processing, including accounts maintenance.
  • Supporting the Compliance function if necessary
  • Varying tasks to support finance project completion and training material
  • Handling general enquiries, to aid the Finance Operations section and general Finance Department
  • Assisting the Finance management, and Team leaders with routine accounts duties as and when required

You will have these Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in CMS Aderant
  • Strong MS skills, in particular Excel
  • Preferably an understanding of financial accounting, ideally gained through previous experience within a legal or professional services firm
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Good telephone manner, experience dealing with clients in a calm and professional manner
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands, multi-task and stay organised
  • Can operate on own initiative and to strict deadlines
  • Careful attention to detail
