The Client is a reputable International Commercial Law Firm focusing on providing an award-winning legal service. Ranked top 100 in the industry, the firm has gained the position of becoming a market-leader in the areas of banking, insurance and the public sector.

They are looking for an experienced Legal Cashier on a fixed-term contract who has a knack for accuracy and an eye for detail. A suitable candidate will have demonstrable finance experience with profound SRA regulatory knowledge. If you have relevant Accounts experience in a Legal Firm this would be advantageous. However, it isn't essential, we welcome candidates with prior experience from professional services. The Role will have you work on a rotational basis with the Transaction and Client Services Team while reporting to the CMS Team Leader. You as the Legal Cashier will be processing financial transactions for the firm in accordance with the firm's procedures other applicable regulations under the Solicitors Accounts Rules. As a successful candidate you can expect an engaging and rewarding day with a varied workload and a range of challenges to tackle.

A typical workday will have you doing:

  • Processing Client Matter Transaction including office and client cheque requests/banking/Office/Client Direct Credit/Counsel and Expert Ledger postings/Same Day and International payment processing, including accounts maintenance.
  • Processing trust account transaction requests and bank reconciliation if required in accordance to Trust account procedures.
  • Assisting the International Offices with any finance support when necessary.
  • Handling general enquiries to aid the Finance Operations section and general Finance Department.
  • Assisting the Finance management, and Team leaders with day-to-day accounts duties.
  • Helping with accounts maintenance client residual balance and projects that may include leaver audit administration and accounts database maintenance.
  • Assist with disbursement editing for matter management.
  • Aiding overaged items assistance as and when required
  • As appropriate, assist with clerical accounts duties and accounts administration

You will have these Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in CMS Aderant
  • Strong MS skills, in particular Excel
  • Preferably an understanding of financial accounting, ideally gained through previous experience within a legal or professional services firm
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Good telephone manner, experience dealing with clients in a calm and professional manner
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands, multi-task and stay organised
  • Can operate on own initiative and to strict deadlines
  • Careful attention to detail
