IP Legal Specialist - Multinational Mining Group

An opportunity has arisen at one of the world's largest multinational mining companies for an experienced IP lawyer to join the UK legal team playing a vital role in supporting the Group's continued ambition to become a nimble, sustainable and technically astute operator. As part of the wider Commercial team, this role will be responsible for providing IP and related commercial legal advice, with a focus on supporting the new technology development and the data analytics team, as they drive to become more agile in the way they mine.

Reporting to the Legal Manager (IP), you will be proactively involved in supporting the implementation of the Group IP policy as well as Group innovation projects and deal structures, including the commercialisation potential of IP by various business functions. As part of the wider strategy, you will support relevant Heads working on the Technical & Sustainability projects, to identify credible transaction strategy, design, negotiation and execution, amongst a host of other IP related responsibilities.

Ideally, you will be 4-7 PQE with strong post-qualification experience in a top city law firm and/or as an in-house counsel (in a large multinational). Experience as an IP lawyer (including patent experience) is essential for the role, as well as having a good knowledge of general commercial law with an excellent working awareness of contractual principles. The ideal candidate will be a natural problem-solver and demonstrate strong business, analytical and negotiation skills, including the ability to act with commercial and technical acumen.
