International construction company that undertakes a broad range of work including: bespoke developments for clients, public sector bodies and construction management only contracts. This company works on some of the most high profile and iconic development projects both in the UK and overseas.

 

An opportunity for a strategic thinking more senior Lawyer with experience in construction and project work to join the established team. Experience of negotiating construction and project documents is required and experience of working with the commercial teams on projects in delivery. Experience or understanding of new methods of construction or product liability is an advantage. Experience of having worked in non-UK jurisdictions is also an advantage.

  • Integrated development and construction projects, some of which are JVs.
  • To provide legal support on proposed construction projects including the review and negotiation of main contract terms (based on JCT/NEC[FIDIC] standard forms as well as framework arrangements), stepping down of terms into sub-contracts and consultant appointment;
  • To provide legal support covering a range of issues on active construction projects;
  • To support the Head of Legal in people manager and team matters- this is not a people manager role.
  • To provide general commercial legal advice to the business.
  • Analyse, review, evaluate and research risks, and develop and implement alternative solutions.
  • Maintain current knowledge on legal developments, disseminating updates to business units.
  • Provide support, including management/ coordination, on contentious matters including dispute resolution via mediation/ adjudication/ arbitration/ litigation.
  • Produce, analyse, interpret, implement and update the Lendlease legal and risk policies, procedures and databases and prepare, review and provide legal documents and reports to track legal issues, recommend corrective actions and maintain timely information in compliance with requirements of Governmental agencies, laws, statutes, rules and regulations.
  • Advice on Construction Act claims and dispute management and some litigation experience.
  • To provide legal support on development projects, including an understanding of upstream documents.
  • To assist in managing and updating all precedent documents for the construction business.
