Senior Legal Counsel

Successful manufacturing company in Greater Manchester seeks experienced commercial lawyer for an In-house Commercial Solicitor role. In-house experience preferred although experienced private practice applicants from top-tier firms will be seriously considered.

Our Greater Manchester based client is a leading manufacturer of consumer goods, and its products are sold by many of Europe's leading retailers. It is a long-established and successful business, and the legal work is incredibly varied, interesting and challenging.


Role - In-house Commercial Solicitor:

To support the business on a wide range of commercial legal issues, the General Counsel seeks to recruit an experienced commercial solicitor as one of two direct legal reports. This is a newly created role with a significant level of responsibility and autonomy.

Sitting below the General Counsel, the In-house Commercial Solicitor will handle general commercial / contractual matters across the entire business - from procuring raw materials and services, to manufacturing, distribution, sales and marketing matters, as well as governance and regulation. You should also expect to have involvement in IP/IT, data protection/GDPR, M&A, dispute resolution and other ad hoc legal advice, guidance and direction.


Requirements:

Individuals applying for this In-house Commercial Solicitor role must be established and experienced commercial lawyers. The position comes with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility as the GC is incredibly busy with their own duties. Applicants must therefore be effective operators who can quickly come up to speed and get the job done.

Applicants should have at least 7 years' PQE and will ideally have existing in-house experience; preferably gained in a manufacturing (or similar) setting. Training at a top national or international law firm is essential.
