Banking / Securities Paralegal or Legal Executive - Liverpool - The in-house corporate banking team of this leading international bank is looking for a number of paralegals, legal executives, or banking securities advisors to join their securities team. Successful candidates will complete a 12-month fixed term contract with the possibility of going permanent. Candidates should be able to demonstrate previous commercial banking / securities experience, or other transactional experience such as commercial property experience or experience handling commercial contracts.

- Previous Experience: ideally candidates should possess commercial banking experience or commercial property experience from another major bank or law firm. The role involves producing, reviewing, approving and executing lending documentation and securities documentation and liaising with other organisations such as the Land Registry and Companies House.
More about the commercial banking securities team
The in-house securities team deals with the securities aspects of a range of corporate and commercial banking matters including asset lending, trade finance and invoice finance. The securities team overseas important milestones of the drawdown and post drawdown journey. This includes drafting and producing key banking documentation as well as ensuring the correct banking and securities documentation (including commercial charges etc) are held and recorded correctly.
This may involve liaising with the land registry and / or companies house as appropriate. It may also include working with the bank's internal systems to draft, record or amend banking documentation as required.
The securities team is also involved in other major lending projects undertaken by the bank.
Structure of the team
The team is headed by an experienced commercial banking lawyer who joined from a leading UK law firm. It now has around 30 advisors, paralegals and legal executives and is about to embark on a recruitment campaign due to the increased number of deals completed by the commercial banking team.
12-month fixed term contract
These will be a fixed term contract designed to last 12 months. There is a possibility that these will evolve into a permanent role, however this will have to be discussed at interview.
Key skills for the role
The securities team manages the banking documentation for major commercial and corporate clients of the bank. Attention to detail is paramount in ensuring the documentation is accurate and is drafted correctly. It must also be executed correctly and registered in the right place as required.
The role would best suit someone who has already worked in the commercial / corporate team of another major bank or who has worked in the banking or commercial property team of a respected commercial law firm.
The role also provides excellent training and ongoing development as well as the chance that these roles may become permanent at the end of the 12-month period.
