Principal Childcare Lawyer with Management – Hybrid Working - Midlands – up to £60,000

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are currently working with an established Local Authority in the Midlands who are recruiting for a Senior Childcare Lawyer with Management responsibilities to join their department.

This is a full-time position on a partially remote basis. However candidates with part-time availability may also be considered.

This opportunity is suitable for an experienced Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with professional experience gained within Local Government.

The successful candidate will have previously managed a team of Childcare Lawyers within a Local Authority and have handled a caseload of complex Public Law matters.

Duties may include:

• Holding management responsibilities for a large team of Lawyers and Paralegals, including Senior Lawyers

• Contributing to the management of the team and attending management meetings

• Holding a small caseload of complex Childcare cases

• Allocating and delegating relevant work to appropriate internal parties

• Advising upon and conducting proceedings relating to the care and protection of children and young people to secure the proper course of action and balanced and favourable judgements  

• Providing legal advice and support services to clients and other witnesses and advising on the appropriate course of action in both civil and criminal proceedings
