Barrister / Solicitor-Advocate (Commercial/Chancery Litigation) - Senior Associate - Lucrative low-tax package - British Virgin Islands.

Opportunity for an experienced litigator to take on a key role, advising on an interesting mix of high-value and complex international commercial litigation work. Joining a small team within a large offshore law firm, you will work closely with some of the most respected litigators in BVI on matters such as contractual and shareholder disputes, financial services disputes, asset tracing and injunctions, and high-value trust disputes. You will also be encouraged to play an active part in client development and will supervise, and help to develop, more junior colleagues.

BVI operates a fused profession and so you can expect regular court work. You will need to be an experienced and confident advocate, with a background in a good chancery / commercial set of chambers, or alternatively, in a role with a respected commercial law firm where you are regularly in court. You are likely to have at least five years’ relevant experience post-admission and must be qualified in England & Wales (or BVI) for work permit reasons.

As well as an attractive low-tax salary package, you will enjoy being part of a high-performing but down-to-earth and collegiate team, making it ideal for someone who wishes to do first-class work but who craves a more inclusive and team-focused approach than is typical at the Bar.

Life in Tortola, BVI, is about as far from a city existence as a lawyer can get whilst maintaining a top-level international legal practice. This is a place where you will be working alongside elite lawyers on huge, complex matters for clients all over the world, but walk out of the office door and you are in one of the most idyllic spots in the Caribbean. Ex-pats who love it here, love the sociable outdoor lifestyle, the climate and the sense of being in a remote location without compromising one iota on their career. It is a paradise for divers, sailors, and indeed for anyone who really wants to switch off completely when the working day is done.

Process

Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically four to six months later. Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation, including temporary accommodation and car hire on arrival.
