Commercial Litigation/Dispute Resolution lawyer – International offshore law firm – Guernsey

This Global offshore law firm has an opening in its Guernsey Litigation/Dispute Resolution practice for a mid-level Associate. Joining one of the most respected teams on the island, you can expect some very interesting work, spanning both mainstream commercial disputes and more specialist banking and financial services litigation. You will be working closely with Partners but will also have plenty of responsibility and client contact on what are typically, high-value and complex international matters.

The role is likely to suit applicants with 2 to 6 years’ relevant experience gained with a good UK law firm (or equivalent), or with another leading offshore practice. You can expect a competitive low-tax salary, a good bonus scheme, a relocation allowance, and all the usual benefits associated with any major law firm. You will also benefit from the firm’s progressive approach which encourages flexible working and sets out a transparent path to career progression.

The Channel Islands

For a city-based lawyer who thrives on big ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world’s premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors, housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue-chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work-life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it.

Process

Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically three months later, depending on notice period. Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with licenses (where applicable) and relocation, including temporary accommodation on arrival.
