Directories-listed Commercial/Technology team in Cambridge is looking to recruit a non-contentious Commercial/IT lawyer of 2 or more years’ PQE. The team’s focus is to work with technology clients to assist in their growth and development. They regularly advise on angel- and venture capital-funding for both investors and investees and they assist technology businesses on securing, protecting and exploiting their intellectual property. The team has vast experience of restructuring, establishing tax efficient, and robust corporate structures for early stage and developing technology businesses. They also assist technology clients grow and exploit their businesses through licensing agreements, manufacturing agreements, research and development projects, joint ventures, cloud computing, e-commerce solutions while ensuring they meet their statutory and regulatory obligations. The role requires excellent drafting skills for agreements and other documents, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and others, and you will need to have the confidence to negotiate contract terms and commercial issues. You will be expected to take ‘ownership’ of your matters and progress these with clients and others, often without the direct involvement of a Partner (but with the necessary supervision and guidance will be provided, as and when required).
You will need to have a good understanding of IT, IP and general commercial law, and preferably have some experience in advising on software-related and other IT-related issues. Any experience or interest in advising clients in the cleantech, life sciences and/or digital tech sectors would be of interest. Participation in business development initiatives and activities will also be required, so you should have some experience of writing articles for internal and external publication, and helping to prepare materials for marketing to commercial and technology clients.
