This is a General Commercial in house Legal Counsel role covering UK & Ireland. Wide ranging role based in either Milton Keynes or Chiswick (West London). Successful applicant is likely to have at least two years of PQE.

Description
The organisation is consultancy providing standards and standardisation products, assurance and regulatory services to clients in around 200 countries with offices throughout the world and a key member of international standards bodies formed for the development and promotion of international standards. The organisation's assurance business covers assessment, certification and training services, part of which is regulated by government agencies around the world. Its consultancy business provides consultancy services and management tools to facilitate business improvement for a wide range of clients. The role holder will provide legal and commercial expertise to the organisation as a member of the Legal department which advises across the structure referred to above.
The position will be based at the UK business headquarters in Milton Keynes or in another main office of the organsiation which is based in Chiswick, West London (there is also a blend of remote working on offer). The Group's Legal department is dispersed throughout the world and operates closely with Company Secretarial and Compliance functions. It works closely with the Group's senior management team.
The role holder will primarily provide legal support to the UK & Ireland businesses on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters as a member of the Group Legal department with a focus on commercial law. This will include:
- Assisting the business colleagues in the drafting, negotiation, review and approval of contracts for UK & Ireland businesses, including advising on tender documentation, supplier contracts, amendments to contracts and partner agreements.
- Manage commercial projects, including creating project plans, liaising with business colleagues, negotiating with external partners and taking the lead in concluding a wide range of contracts (e. as content licensing, service agreements, cooperation agreements).
- To provide advice and guidance on intellectual property infringement matters
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, support, compliance, business development, regulatory, IT, and finance as well as well as various business units.
- To assist business colleagues and provide advice in the management of disputes and claims by applying a range of dispute resolution techniques.
- Develop stakeholder relationships and become strategic legal advisor to UK & Ireland management teams.
- To provide advice and guidance on the organisation's obligations in the conduct of its knowledge, assurance and compliance activities in accordance with international laws, accreditation rules and industry best practice including privacy, data protection and competition law.
Profile
The successful candidate will be a Lawyer, qualified in either the UK or another Common Law Jurisdiction.
They will be likely to have at least 2 years' post-qualification experience.
The successful candidate will have legal training and post qualification experience with a leading law firm as well as experience as part of an in-house legal department of an organisation providing business services in a multinational environment (can be secondment or other).
They will have general commercial contracts experience (advising, negotiating and drafting).
