Legal Counsel Payments UK Banking Group

Multiple locations London / Northampton/ Birmingham Flexible working

The Role: to support the support the Payments business lines and key payments product areas across the all business areas for this leading UK Banking Group including the market leading Card business

Supporting the implementation of new regulatory obligations, including strong customer authentication, open banking and product development based on existing payments capabilities and leveraging innovation in payments

Responsibilities:

• Supporting significant commercial arrangements with payments schemes, strategic business and technology partners

• Assisting the Group General Counsel and Global Payments General Counsel

• Identifying and managing legal and regulatory risk across the Payments businesses and with other payment products offered by other business areas

• Managing legal risk and ensuring that the legal function adds value to its stakeholders, giving a best-in-class and consistent service in a dynamic operating environment

• Supporting the implementation of new regulatory obligations

• Driving efficiencies and consistent practices, help build know how and maintain template and frameworks

Candidate Profile:

• Qualified lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, Attorney or equivalent), with strong PQE experience

• Experience in financial services, payments, software/fintech, commercial contracts and / or e-commerce

• Organisational acumen with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within time, resource and budget constraints

• Ability to manage projects to close, ensuring tracking against milestones
