The Role

The firm are looking to hire a Privacy & Data Solicitor (2 years+ PQE) in their Manchester office.

You will be part of their data privacy practice in partnership both in working alongside cyber security colleagues in other practice areas such as financial services regulatory, insurance, employment, and the non-contentious data protection team.

Much of the work will involve contentious data privacy matters, working with the Information Commissioners Office on regulatory investigations however it will not be limited to this. Other work will include financial fraud through cyber-attack, or operational security incidents affecting critical national infrastructure.

The successful hire will need to have a solid understanding of data privacy law ideally with experience on the more contentious side for example regulatory investigations, liaising with the ICO and dealing with data breaches but there will also be requirements to handle non-contentious matters - before the event cyber risk management, advising on cyber security aspects of corporate transactions and projects (ensuring security is adequate regarding contractors on various projects etc).

This position will be in depth, challenging and will give the new Associate exposure to high quality, complex cyber risk matters for high profile, blue chip clients. The team are growing and at the forefront of this developing sector. Promotion is very realistic for lawyers with drive and ambition to build a long-term career in this practice.

Requirements

  • You will be a Cyber Risk/Data Privacy Associate with 2-6 years PQE.
  • Experience gained at a reputable firm within an established practice.
  • The ability to manage and develop strong client relationships whilst also effectively providing support internally to the firm and colleagues.
  • Ability and drive to work on bespoke, big-ticket and complicated matters
