Locum Head of Corporate Governance

Locum

Remote working with occassional office attendance for meetings

Locum Head of Corporate Governance is required to join a large public sector organisation on a locum basis. This organisation currently provides legal services to three main local authority clients.

As Head of Corporate Governance, you will act as the Monitoring Officer for one local authority client. You will also have a team that work under you and will have support of a Deputy Monitoring Officer, a lawyer and trainee solicitor. Therefore you will have access to delegate matters as you see fit across the team.

This team currently undertakes work on behalf of three key local authority clients but also receives an influx of work from County Councils, District and Borough councils along with parish councils so will have the opportunity to pick up a range of matters and will offer you a variety. They also undertake work for the fire service too. Such matters include members investigations, constitutional reviews and support on this along with general governance and dispute matters. They are also providing advice in relation to local authorities moving to trusts which is a growing area.

Evening meetings will be required but a level of flexibility and working from home is welcomed in this role. Evening and Committee meetings tend to be once every month or so so there is flexibility of when you can attend the office based on meetings. Ideally candidates need to be able to drive due to the location of the office.

The client has recruited someone on a permanent basis for the role but is looking for the locum to offer support and training to allow the permanent person to get up to speed and co-work with the locum hence previous governance experience in recommended.

Our client is happy to consider someone is ambitious and has a real drive for training and developing a team.
