This is general commercial in house legal Counsel role with a prominent not-for-profit organisation.
Client Details
Our Client is a well known not-for-profit organisation.
Description
These include but are not limited to:
- advising staff of all levels about legal issues (excluding employment and health and safety law), affecting the organisation, including large or complex transactions
- Producing, reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
- Engaging with and advising stakeholders across the organisation in identifying and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Reviewing and negotiating documents including terms of business, research collaboration agreements, software licenses, supply contracts, fundraising arrangements and more to identify and manage legal and regulatory risks
- Maintaining knowledge of the organisation's current activities, as well as statutory laws and regulations (including data protection legislation) and judicial developments affecting its activities
- Managing and overseeing the work of external legal advisers
- Supporting the Director of Legal and Governance in delivering new corporate governance initiatives
- Assisting in devising and delivering internal stakeholder training
- Supporting the continued improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes and assist in the development of policies and procedures where required
- Assisting in providing legal support in the implementation of the organisation's strategic aims, including providing legal support to one of the organisation's key strategic aims- our participation in Cell and Gene Therapy to support medical advancements in the treatment of blood cancers; and
- Undertaking other duties as may be requested by the Chair, CEO, CFO and relevant Directors as work develops, and new needs emerge.
Profile
The successful candidate will be a lawyer (solicitor or barrister) qualified in the UK or another common law jurisdiction.
They will have in depth experience of working with commercial contracts.
Experience of charity law and governance matters will be looked upon favourably.
