Your new company
A religious charity based in central London are seeking a Legal Counsel on a permanent basis. This is an important role supporting managing trustees in understanding and complying with their responsibilities set out in the Constitutional Practice and Discipline of the organisation and charity law.

Your new role
In this role, you will ensure the organisation is legally compliant across a range of activities including risk management and data protection. You will fulfil the responsibilities of a data protection officer for the team, undertaking regular reviews across the practices, polices and procedures as well as ensuring compliance with GDPR and Data Protection. You will be responsible for keeping abreast of regulatory and legislative changes that impact trustees across the organisation, and administer processes that implement policies made by governance bodies in respect of property, legal and governance matters. Finally you will draft and negotiate a variety of contracts as well as managing any ad hoc legal work.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role, you should have experience in a senior legal or governance role for a charity or regulated body. Moreover you should be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister with several years post qualified experience, although other legal qualifications will be considered. You will have good knowledge of charity law and will need to be able to operate effectively within a complex governance environment and to influence decision making as appropriate.
