Watershed has been advising senior management on the practical implications and application of employment law for nearly 50 years. While we are not a traditional law firm, we are regulated by the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority. Now, we’re searching for an ambitious Employment Lawyer who can join us on a full-time, permanent basis. The position involves extensive travel and, ideally, the candidate should be located along the M1 or M6 corridors.
The Role
Watershed is looking for an Employment Lawyer who can handle the following responsibilities:
- Helping to grow and develop our services in employment law, maximising opportunities and developing long-term fruitful relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Advising daily on a wide range of both routine and complex matters that can be contentious or non-contentious, covering all aspects of employment law.
- Representing clients at the employment tribunal and the employment appeal tribunal, including carrying out any advocacy.
- Helping clients transform their business by advising on and often participating in complex collective redundancies, collective bargaining, large-scale changes to terms and conditions, and TUPE transfers.
- Working on and managing a range of client projects and dealing with their day-to-day employment matters.
- Building and sustaining relationships, developing new accounts, and providing innovative solutions, while offering clients new ideas about employment law services technology, approaches, and methodology.
About You
We are seeking an Employment Lawyer with the following skills and experience:
- Experienced in Employment Law, with a track record of working with large private sector businesses.
- 5 years’ PQE in a fees-based professional firm.
- Solid technical competence in Employment Law.
- Up to date on modern working practices, while understanding the day-to-day pressures busy managers experience.
- Personable and professional, with the ability and drive to develop new business in a competitive industry.
- Capable of building and maintaining relationships with demanding clients.
- A confident communicator, with the experience needed to present and provide a range of services and products that match client needs.
- Has the gravitas required to credibly advise senior stakeholders within large organisations.
- Commercially astute, with an unqualified desire to build long-term relationships.
Salary and Benefits
The successful Employment Lawyer will receive a competitive salary in the region of £60,000 - £99,000 per annum, depending on experience. They will also gain access to an excellent benefits package alongside this. This would be an excellent role for an energetic individual who enjoys travel.
