Legal Counsel

Reporting to the Head of Legal, Technology and Projects in Asia, the Legal Counsel is responsible for providing advice on corporate structuring, commercial contract negotiations and corporate risk and governance matters in the UK and certain other Group markets globally.

You will have immediate responsibility and autonomy working within an established framework offering support and personal development. A highly personable team dealing with an array of challenges in a fast moving environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Negotiation, drafting, and reviewing of commercial contracts
  • Deal effectively with a broad range of legal matters including corporate, commercial, regulatory, financial services and litigious matters
  • Providing legal support to new business initiatives. For example, negotiating and advising on strategic initiatives and transactions, international expansion, regulatory and governance matters
  • Managing internal processes and ensuring proper stakeholder engagement and good governance throughout contract lifecycle
  • Working closely with the rest of the international Group Legal team to ensure sharing of knowledge and harmonisation of practices
  • Effectively retaining and managing external counsel when appropriate.

What we’re looking for:

  • Legal Qualification – Qualified UK solicitor with 0-4 years PQE experience (will consider suitable candidates outside of this indicative range with relevant experience, and qualified lawyers from other common law jurisdictions with eligibility to sit QLT)
  • Methodical approach with an attention to detail
  • A motived self-starter who can take ownership of matters
  • Ability to quickly build stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively at all levels within the business
  • Strong commercial outlook and pragmatic approach to legal practice
  • Experience of negotiating corporate/commercial agreements
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced international environment
