Finance Systems Developer

The Department
HFW has a small Finance Systems Team located in the London office, that provides support centrally to our global network of offices. 

The Role
As a Finance Systems Developer, you will be responsible for architecting performant, scalable and robust Finance Systems solutions using SQL, SSRS, Power BI, VB.Net, Excel VBA, and XML technologies including XSLT.  You will also identify potential technical risks at the documentation and design stages and mitigate against them by understanding the context of a solution and highlight the impact of design decisions on various Finance Systems.  You will work collaboratively with functional experts to comprehend requirements and ensure all technical aspects of projects are delivered as planned.  You will liaise with external software suppliers to develop, implement and troubleshoot Finance Systems solutions and issues.

Other duties include but are not limited to producing structured, reusable code that has been subjected to code review and quality control processes; ensuring development best practices and coding standards are enforced and enhanced as well as providing technical support for delivered software product to other Finance Systems team members and members of the wider Finance and IT Teams.

Key Responsibilities
The role will be varied and include:
1.    Development of HFW’s Elite 3E system to meet business requirements.
2.    Invoice template development using both Crystal Reports and Design Gallery.
3.    Development of finance reporting using both SSRS, Power BI and 3E’s reporting function.
4.    Integration of 3E with other HFW systems using IntApp Integration and BizTalk.
5.    Assisting with the upgrade of the 3E system to the latest release.
6.    Liaising with stakeholders at all levels of the business to define and develop Finance Systems based solutions to business problems. 
7.    Implement appropriate testing and quality assurance.
8.    Ensure that all development work is accurately and thoroughly documented and that the firm's standards in respect of security, architecture and design are adhered to. 
9.    Work with product vendors to apply fixes, updates and fix faults. 
10.    Functional experience in all phases of the development life cycle and a proven consultative approach.
11.    Assist with Finance Systems and IT support teams where necessary.
12.    Liaise appropriately with Operations, Service Desk and Change Management staff as appropriate to ensure a smooth deployment to live operation.
13.    Work closely with all members of the Finance Systems Team, the Global Finance team and IT department to provide a complete and cohesive service to relevant stakeholders.
14.    Any other ad hoc duties as and when required.

Key Skills & Experience Required
This role requires a candidate with a minimum of 3 years' experience at this level.  The successful candidate will be a capable developer who is self-motivated and able to convert requirements into usable systems, reports and code quickly and efficiently with minimal assistance and supervision but realise and acknowledge the need to seek guidance as appropriate.  

The candidate must be able to deliver quality solutions to tight deadlines working in an open, friendly, but pressurised environment.

Experience of working collaboratively as part of a team of analysts and programmers, including use of version control, coding standards, testing and peer review.
