THE COMPANY:
Our client is a leading independent Brokerage firm based in the City.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership example by adhering to corporate cultural and conduct standards.
- Provide advice to Senior Management on matters affecting the legal and regulatory position of the Firm.
- Secure early involvement in projects, new initiatives, services and products to ensure that legal and regulatory issues are taken into account.
- Ensure that the Firm’s legal risk is appropriately minimised and managed
- Provide the Senior Management of the Firm with expert legal counsel and legal risk management.
- Ensure the Firm complies with all relevant corporate governance related filing requirements.
- Provide management and guidance to colleagues when participating in Firm projects and initiatives.
- Manage relationships with external counsel.
- Assessment and mitigation of legal and contractual risks affecting the Firm.
- Ensure legal documentation appropriately minimises risks to the Firm, and ensures that the Firm can remain in compliance with the relevant legislation and regulatory regimes.
- Ensure relevant SBUs are fully informed of the legal risks associated with any commercial strategy or proposed contractual arrangement.
- Maintain up to date knowledge and competence for changes to applicable corporate governance and regulatory regimes and legislation.
- Engagement of external resources where needed to provide advice or supplement existing resources.
- Attendance and minute-keeping at PEC / Board level.
- Ensure regular and concise management information is provided to Senior Management and the PEC/ Board level.
- Support the CEO in managing and executing the Firm’s obligations under the regulatory regime.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Experience of working within a broker, bank or the financial services practice of a legal firm
- 4-8 Years PQE
- Knowledge of commercial contracts
- Knowledge of financial services regulatory obligations
