Our client, a premier US-headquartered law firm, is looking to recruit an experienced HR Manager for their London office. The HR Manager will manage the London Human Resources team and provide a seamless service to the London office . You will act as a key business partner to the London office supporting partners, counsel, associates, and staff in a HR generalist capacity. The role is customer-focused and strives to achieve an exemplary HR service to both internal and external clients through effective recruitment, retention, employee relations, performance management, policy development and application, and benefits administration.

Key responsibilities will include:

Provide support and guidance to partners, managers and employees in the London office on all employee relations issues such as disciplinary, grievance, absence monitoring and performance management,), in order to ensure a consistent and fair approach which is line with employment legislation and Firm policyKeep up to date with employment law developments and advises on compliance and risk factorsManage investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters, bringing to a resolution as necessary in line with Firm policyReview, develop and implement policies and procedures as well as monitoring effectiveness of policies and initiatives; maintaining the staff handbook and communicating changes in policy as appropriateWorks with Partners to manage staff short and long term sickness absence and initiates medical referrals where appropriate for Legal StaffManages maternity and other leave administration including flexible working requests for Legal StaffDaily management of two direct reportsWorking closely with the partners to determine the current needs for all Legal recruitment in the London office to ensure those needs are metIdentifying, developing and evaluating effective sources to ensure the most qualified candidates are recruited, interviewed and selected. Refers qualified candidates to partnersDrafting and coordinating job advertisements for Legal positionsResponsible for background checks, employee orientation & benefit orientation for Legal positionsDrafting and coordinating contracts/offer letters for Legal positionsCoordinates and participates in the review and selection of benefit providers for the London office (which includes private medical, dental, group life, income protection and pension)Together with the Recruiting Assistant oversees benefit enrollments, coordinates terminations and conducts benefit orientations for Legal StaffManage maternity and other lease administration including flexible working requests for Legal StaffIn conjunction with the Legal Talent Office and Relocation Team, manage the day-to-day administration of various immigration situations, including those seconded or transferred within the firm network to or from London (including the Summer Associate Programme) Work with the external immigration advisors on visa applications for new hires, international assignment, permanent transfer, extended business trips and new hires - ongoing compliance with visa Offer advice and expertise on all local relocation coordination, work with Immigration experts on visa applications for new hires, international assignment, permanent transfer, extended business trips and new hires Run interview skills and performance review training as appropriateEnsures training records for all staff are kept and assists with any training initiatives, as requiredResponsible for promoting and developing Employee Wellbeing and D&I initiatives

The ideal candidate for this HR Manager role will have strong generalist human resources experience in a legal or professional services environment and will be fully CIPD qualified. You must be conversant and up-to-date with UK employment law and HR best practice. You will have strong communication skills and the ability to interact constructively with all levels of management, staff and external contacts. Excellent organizational and time management skills are a must, and you will be proactive, motivated and able to work autonomously and flexibly.
