An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Legal to join a Local Authority in the South East of England for an initial 6 month period with the view this could be extended further.
The successful Head of Legal will ideally be able to go into the office 1-2 days per week, working on a hybrid working model.
Candidates must be a qualified lawyer and will ideally have previous management experience within Local Government.
As a Head of Legal, your role will include, but is not limited to:
- Providing leadership and supporting the corporate governance of the Council
- To work closely with Elected Members and provide leadership, guidance and direction to colleagues within the Legal and Democratic Services function, including Elections and Information Governance
- To be the Council's principal legal advisor and the Council's Monitoring Officer
- To ensure that Council contracts, policies and procedures, including election issues, are in accordance with the latest developments of both national and European legislation (whilst relevant).
