Music lawyer 4+ years’ PQE LONDON

Private practice law firm in London, renowned for the work it does in the Music, Media and Entertainment sectors is seeking to recruit a Music lawyer of 4 or more years’ PQE. The team is listed in the legal directories and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside industry-leading Partners. The teams’ clients range from major and independent labels, publishers, major worldwide artists, emerging talent, song writers, producers, leading A&R and marketing executives, major management companies and digital music platforms. Key aspects of the role include: • Recording, distribution, artist services, publishing, management and production agreements • Live events, production and music clearances • Merchandising • Sponsorship, endorsement and branding arrangements • Content licensing for new digital music services • Acquisition and exploitation of music rights in film, television, games and theatre • Employment and related entrepreneurial activities • Corporate/business structuring.

The successful candidate will have strong advisory, drafting and negotiating skills in addition to a pragmatic and commercial manner. You will also have a real understanding of the music industry and the challenges it faces today. Strong interpersonal skills are also required as you will need to work with (and alongside) other departments in the firm (and their clients) operating in a music space. You will take an active role in developing your own practice and growing the music practice at the firm through marketing and business development initiatives. In addition to those candidates currently working in private practice, our client is also open to hearing from candidates currently working in-house, provided they have the relevant experience and necessary skills to perform the role.
