My client is a London based Financial Services business focused on real estate investment and asset management. They are looking to recruit a General Counsel to lead the legal team and support the business in its next stage of growth.

Description

As General Counsel you will report directly into the CEO and will be responsible for leading the legal function. Key duties will include:

• Supporting the development of the legal team;
• Advising on major corporate events (e. off-boarding and on-boarding new investments);
• Advising board level stakeholders on the formation and implementation of strategic legal matters;
• Managing a full range of legal work from BAU matters up to business critical deals;
• Having a keen focus on the speed and quality of deal execution and where improvements can / should be made;
• Ensuring major legal risks are properly managed;
• Effective management of outside counsel.

Profile

My client is ideally looking for a qualified lawyer with 10+ PQE although this is a guide only and candidates with demonstrable leadership and strategic experience who are more junior are also encouraged to apply.

Although the primary focus of the business is real estate investment and asset management work this is a full service legal role and as such prior financial services experience whilst beneficial is not necessary. As such, I would love to speak to candidates with a real estate, investments, corporate and commercial background as well. Essentially you will need to be comfortable working on a range of legal matters from standard BAU work to complex deals.

In this role you will need to be able to adopt a commercial and pragmatic approach to decision making. As the company continues to grow there is a lot of emphasis on high standards and efficiency in the execution of deals and as General Counsel you will need to ensure the legal team works closely with the business to maintain this approach.

Job Offer

The compensation on offer for this role includes:

• A basic salary of between £150,000 - £200,000 (depending on relevance of experience),
• A generous bonus scheme; and
• A full benefits package.

This is a full time position and will combine both home and office working as required.
